Tonight we had the strongest earthquake in San Francisco since the Loma Prieta one in 1989, which was 6.9!
Wow, first the fires of Southern California, now the earthquake here in Northern California. Though fortunately there have been no damage or injuries here. . . Seriously, our state is already dealing with one major natural disaster, it doesn't need a massive quake too!
But that was sort of exciting! At first it was a bit scary and the adrenaline got going, especially since I haven't felt an earthquake like that since 1989, and I was outside then (it was scary being inside!). It even sent my friend and me to a doorway about halfway through, and we're both from here and 'used to' these! But then when I realized it wasn't TOO strong, it was rather exhilarating. In my neighborhood, 94117, it was very jolty and it began strongly, tapered off, then came back again with more force. We guessed it was around four-point-something at the time, which makes sense since it was 5.6 in San Jose. The USGS listed our zip (and most of SF) as a IV which is 'moderate.' As far as length, it seemed to just go on and on!
What were your experiences??

I felt it in my bed. I was snug as a bug watching "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," and then it hit!
I scampered up and down the hall of my residence yelping "Earthquake! Did you feel it! Oh my GOD!!" only to have this notoriously grouchy old man stick his head out the door saying, "It wasn't even a 6-pointer! Stop making so much noise!" and he slammed the door. Then I lost power in my T.V. and I never finished the Charlie Brown special
1Aw, sadness about Charlie Brown! How dare an earthquake cramp your style like that, hehehe
